Jurassic Park – Part three
Monday, September 25th, 2006Here is the third installment of my version of “Jurassic Park”. I bent the rules in McCloud’s exercise a little- you’re not supposed to use words. Well, there really wasn’t a way around using them in panels 1 & 2 here. I’m definitely learning about the “choice of moment” that McCloud describes. In the years that I’ve been doing comics, I have just gone ahead and made the strips/pages without consciously thinking about things like the choice of moment. I just sort of did it. It was never pointed out or codified in such a way before, and now I’m trying to make deliberate decisions. That can only help, right?
So, how about that T-Rex? Ferocious, huh? I know it’s clunky, anatomically erroneous, and unrealistic, but I didn’t really have the time or inclination to do all the research for something that is just an exercise. I kind of feel like Bill Watterson did when he did his first dinosaur strips.
